Michael Wearne is back for 2024!

Returning for his 3rd season with the Tigers is Michael ‘Fuzz’ Wearne who will be looking to continue his impact both on and off the court.  A proven talent Michael has been there from the very beginnings of the Tigers rebuild over the past few years in which his skill, leadership and experience was heavily relied upon and as such has been integral in the development of this Tiger’s young core group.  With the additions of more experience to the roster this season and the growth of the Tiger’s young players Michael is one of those players who will no doubt enjoy the results of this hard work with the team goal of returning to finals action.

A 6’2” shooting guard, Michael has extensive experience the NBL1 level along with having brief stints with Melbourne United. He has proven to be a crafty guard with the ability to create time and space for his shot both on and off the ball.  Averaging 10.1ppg & 2.7apg in the 2023 Season he has shown to have the ability to turn it on and score big when needed but also possesses the ability to create for others on the offensive end.

“It’s fantastic to see Fuzz returning with the Tigers, he’s been such a big part of what we’ve been trying to establish here, and his experience and talent has been invaluable.  Watching the work he’s been putting in over this off season you can see he has a real excitement and eagerness to get the season underway and will relish the opportunity to play with the new talent we’ve brought into the team.  He’s a knockdown shooter and I think will thrive playing alongside the likes of Tommy (Wilson) and Jack (Purchase).” – Jay Lomer A/Coach

Michael added, “I’m super excited for the upcoming season and really appreciate the opportunity once again!”.

With another integral piece to the puzzle added the Tigers have created a formidable and versatile roster that has a lot of offensive weapons at its disposal.  2024 is shaping up to be an exciting Season ahead with the Tigers opening game being on Thursday 4th April Vs Dandenong at MSAC.
