Melbourne Tigers welcome back Taj Chehhal!

The Rookie Me Melbourne Tigers are thrilled to welcome back Taj Chehhal for the 2025 NBL1 season!

Taj was a key spark off the bench last season, averaging 4.82 points, 1.45 assists, and 1.91 rebounds per game while showcasing his impressive three-point shooting. Expect him to make the most of his minutes on the court once again!

A leader in the Tigers’ BigV Youth League squad, Taj put up 7.75 points, 1.42 assists, and 3 rebounds per game last season. Now, he’s ready to take another step forward and make a strong impact at the NBL1 level in 2025.

Tigers head coach, Andrew Gaze is delighted that Taj has decided to sign on for the 2025 season and he believes Taj will play a significant role, particularly on the defensive side.

“Taj has been a part of the Melbourne Tigers since he was 12 years old playing in the under 14.  He has played a significant role with the NBL1 team for the past 2 seasons and will once again be an important contributor in 2025.  Taj took on some difficult defensive assignments last season and demonstrated how effective he can be at that end of the floor”, Gaze said.

Taj has also shared his eagerness for the upcoming season chasing a long finals push.

“Excited to be back for another season. We had a solid season last year and I love the group that we have right now going into the next. I feel like we have a better understanding of how to play off of each other as well as our own roles. I think that this year we have a good shot at the playoffs push that we’ve been chasing.”

Welcome back Taj!
